ESDCTA Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medalist
Competition Quadrille Rider
Jessie is an instructor at Hidden Creek. She graduated summa cum laude from King's College in 2013 with a B.A. in Professional Writing and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in English at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Jessie is an avid writer; she is the author of a children's book and an accomplished poet. Jessie also works at a community college as a professional writing tutor.
Jessie is an avid dressage competitor with a background in dressage, eventing, and combined training. From 2004 to 2012 when she aged out of the youth category, Jessie was a member of the ESDCTA Youth Team. She competed in the Region One Youth Team Competition as well as Lendon's Youth Dressage Festival, the region eight competition. She has competed through FEI Junior and Fourth Level dressage on Jill's Hanoverian gelding, Grande I Am ("Grande"). She also actively evented her American Warmblood gelding, Against All Odds ("Thunder") until his retirement in 2013. Less than five years ago, Jessie underwent numerous leg surgeries and subsequent complications. She used that time to focus on her students, training numerous ESDCTA and NPASS Champions as well as five ESDCTA Bronze Medalists. When Jessie returned to riding in summer 2011, jumping was easier than the leg coordination required for dressage. Due to her past accomplishments and her results at a combined training shows, Jessie was accepted onto the 2012 ESDCTA Youth Eventing team, with scores counting in all three divisions. She was also able to earn her ESDCTA Gold Medal in 2012.
At the start of the 2013 season, Thunder experienced complications from an underlying ulcer problem and was unexpectedly retired from competitive riding. To fill a spot at a show she had already entered, Jessie hopped on Ed's American Quarter Horse gelding, Just Takin Chances ("Chance") two days before the show. The pair ended up competing successfully at Beginner Novice combined training and Training Level dressage, winning both the NPASS Championships at Combined Training and the ESDCTA Year-End Award for Training Level Open. She also rode on a competition quadrille team in 2012 and 2013, winning Champion for ESDCTA Year-End Awards both years.
This year, Jessie has moved Chance up to USEF/USDF Recognized Dressage Shows. She is also doing a musical freestyle and a pas de deux with Ashley Coleman.
